Sonnya is a veterinarian and was often receiving injured and orphaned wildlife, stabilizing it, and sending it on to a larger rehabilitation facility 3 hours away. When she realized that there was only (at that time) one permitted rehabilitator for the area, Sonnya became permitted as well, so that she could help the other rehabilitator with the case load each year.
