Elise D.

$689 of $689 raised

Elise's parents were wildlife rehabilitators and at a young age, she knew that she wanted to be one as well someday. She put it off for so long due to school, getting married, and raising kids, then one day her daughter came running into the house with a gloved hand (winter glove, but she tried!) and a chipmunk! Elise took it as a sign that it was time. They took the little guy to a wildlife rehabilitation facility for care and at the same time, Elise asked if she could become a volunteer. The next week she was given a position as a volunteer wildlife apprentice. She has been and continues to be taught so much by the people who work there. The education she has received is priceless. Elise's children see what she has been doing and they both want to have jobs working with wildlife one day. During this pandemic, it has come to Elise's attention that help is needed even more as many places can't have volunteers in the building. She has been transporting animals more lately rather than caring for them, but her license is on the horizon!
