Juniper R.

$475 of $475 raised

Juniper has been volunteering in conservation and domestic animal rescue since she was 15 (half a lifetime ago!). Wildlife rehabilitation has been her dream since her earliest memories, but hands-on care had to wait until she had a home where she could safely quarantine wildlife from her pets and children. Now that her ducks are in a row, she has started out by volunteering nearly-full time with Happinest Wildlife Rehabilitation, a network of home-based volunteers working to save wildlife. Juniper dedicates one day a week to caring for the many songbirds and turtles at one of the home-based facilities in the network, and spends several days each week pursuing education and workshops so she's fully prepared for animal care and (soon!) licensing. She also captures and transports animals, and carries supplies for other Happinest volunteers. Now that baby animal season is here and she has been adequately trained, she's ready to branch out from her songbirds-and-turtles routine and participate in raising opossums joeys, eastern grey squirrels, and eastern cottontails. Juniper says that she has enjoyed the hands-on experience she has had with the orphans and knows that an incubator will provide babies with the warmth and security they desperately need.
